The dreaded "air puff" is a thing of the past at Olson Optical. Introducing the i-care tonometer, a device that measures the intra-ocular pressure (IOP) of the eye and requires absolutely no drops or puff of air.
IOP measurement is an integral part of each eye exam and is just one piece of the puzzle in allowing Dr. Boyle to determine your risk factor for developing the potentially sight-threatening disease of glaucoma. Glaucoma is a serious eye disease which in many cases causes an increase in fluid pressure within the eye. Over time the increased pressure can cause damage to the optic nerve, and if left untreated may lead to irreversible blindness.
Glaucoma affects over 3 million Americans but it's estimated that only half of them have been diagnosed.Through our advanced technology, Dr. Boyle can monitor diseases over time, as well as diagnose quickly, leading to better overall care for our patients.
